My Daily Bread
Magnet Theatre, Cape Town
19 October 2019
19:00
My Daily Bread is a production that consists of personal narratives where the central theme is the interrogation of food histories and the creation of new food cultures. It includes animated discussions on the production of food, distribution of food, food apartheid, the politics of food and the appropriation of traditional food practices and creation of new food lifestyles.
Edu-Drama received surprised reactions firstly, for being women only cast; secondly, for not being theatre students nor having any technical theatre experience, and lastly, that they are the writers, directors, and performers of their own productions.
Edu-Drama is a programme that provides educational theatre that addresses the realities of black women within today’s society, providing a healing space for black women through the promotion of sisterhood, and unpacking Black Radical Feminism/Radical Black Feminism.
The programme consists of 10 productions that have all been performed at the National Arts Festival and various theatres, tertiary institutions, government departments, conferences and National Arts Festivals since 2008. These productions introduce the audience to the women behind statistics of violence against women.
